AUXILIARY SUPPORT

Memory Treatment Centers provides auxiliary aids and services, free of charge and in a timely manner, to individuals with disabilities when such aids and services are necessary to provide an individual with a disability an equal opportunity to benefit from Memory Treatment Centers programs, services, and activities.

Memory Treatment Centers Disability Accommodations and Language Assistance Policy and Procedures provide staff with important information to help ensure that effective communication with patients, visitors, and others takes place in our facilities. Some of the auxiliary aids utilized in our affiliate locations include:

  • Onsite interpreters
  • Remote interpretation such as Video Remote Interpretation
  • Relay services for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing (TDD, TTY)
  • Note takers
  • Qualified readers
  • Computer-aided transcription services (voice recognition)
  • Written copies of documents/communications
  • Hearing aid-compatible telephones
  • Videotext displays (closed captioning)
  • Pager systems
  • Large print documents (upon request and within a reasonable timeframe)
  • Audio recordings of documents or portions of documents (upon request and within a reasonable timeframe)

Both federal guidelines and our internal policy restrict the use of family and friends as interpreters. In cases where we do allow family or friends to interpret, we will do so only until we are able to provide an onsite interpreter or video-remote interpretation.

SERVICE ANIMALS

Memory Treatment Centers allows authorized service animals in its affiliate locations to accommodate the needs of patients and visitors who are in need of this type of assistance. Please note that service animals are restricted to dogs and miniature horses (24-34 inches tall and 70-100 lbs.) that have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for individuals with disabilities.

A service animal is permitted in any area of our locations that is unrestricted to patients or other non-staff as long as the animal does not pose a direct threat (as determined by our staff). Service animal use is documented in the medical record of the applicable patient including any areas where the animal has been restricted from entering.

The handler/owner of the service animal has certain responsibilities to uphold while in our facilities. The handler/owner must provide the animal with food, water, and other necessary care or make arrangements for this care to be provided. Our staff are not responsible to provide care or food for a service animal.

LANGUAGE SERVICES

Memory Treatment Centers is committed to ensuring that all persons have an equal opportunity to access and participate in its programs, services, and activities. This includes providing reasonable accommodations for those who need communication assistance, whether it is due to a disability such as the deaf or hard of hearing, or to Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Interpretation services are offered free of charge in all of our affiliate locations, at all points of contact, and during all hours of operations.

For pre-scheduled appointments — Notify us of the need for interpretation, either for you or any family member or companion, during the appointment scheduling process. Alert the scheduler of any additional special needs or preferences (between in-person, video remote interpretation (iPad), or telephone interpretation). If in-person interpretation is desired, we will do our best to accommodate your request. Keep in mind that depending on the language, location of the facility, and time and length of the appointment, in-person interpreters may not always be available; if this were the case a qualified remote (VRI and/or audio-only (telephonic)) interpreter will be made available.

As such, to ensure effective and timely communication, Memory Treatment Centers may utilize one or a combination of the following interpretation mediums:

  • In-person interpreters
  • Video remote interpretation (“VRI”- using dedicated devices)
  • Telephonic interpretation- in over 200 languages
  • Translated documents
