Helping Those Affected by Hurricane Ian

On September 28, 2022 Hurricane Ian made landfall as a category 4 hurricane in Southwestern Florida, predominantly impacting Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Lee and Sarasota counties.

Ian arrived in Florida with wind speeds of 150 mph and torrential rains that led to the devastation of critical infrastructure, islands, homes, and business costing a total of $40 billion in property damage.

Ian is not only one of the most costly hurricanes to make landfall in Florida, but it is the most deadly storm the U.S. has seen since Katrina made landfall in 2005. Ian took the lives of 109 Floridians.

The devastation of Hurricane Ian hit close to home for our Pure Healthcare family. Memory Treatment Centers and a partnered Pure Infusion Suites Clinic are located in Bonita Springs, Florida, servicing much of Lee county.

Many of our employees, their families, and our patients either had sizeable damage done to or lost their homes, cars, and belongings as a result of the hurricane.

In response, Pure Healthcare partnered with the BUILD Together Foundation to provide immediate relief to employees and patients impacted by hurricane Ian.

As of today, Pure Healthcare in partnership with Build have raised $17,000.

These donations have been able to help many team members, their families, and patients with immediate needs like:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Beds & bedding
  • Rent expenses
  • Medication
  • Gas for generators
  • Home repairs, flooring, & furniture replacement
  • Rental cars and vehicle repair
“My sister in law, Ashleigh, and nephew’s (Mason) home was flooded with 5 feet of muddy water the day of the hurricane. All of their belongings and possessions were ruined. The day after the hurricane, a lithium battery exploded in their garage leading to a house fire. The fire department had to rip apart their garage and attic to make sure the fire didn’t spread. Ashleigh’s car was flooded and totaled. Floors, baseboards, walls, doors, dry wall, furniture, cabinets, appliances, beds, linens, clothing all need to be replaced. Our donations are assisting them with mattresses/beds, linens, clothing, shoes and basic essentials.
One of my dear friends and MTC patient, has also been severely affected by the storm. Her parents lost everything on Fort Myers Beach. Their cars were tossed away and their home of 30-years had 4 feet of water inside. Her parents had to wait 4-days to be rescued off the island and could only take a backpack with them. Her parents have been staying in her home with a total of 4 adults, a 10-yr old and 5 dogs. Her parents are slowly repairing their home on the island. Her home didn’t get power until a month and week after the storm. We’ve helped her and her family with basic daily necessities, such as gas, food and dog food.”
